In this project we worked together with four students. The task was to redesign the Philips Senseo Original coffee machine. We were supposed to take over the essential features and give the new Senseo an unique touch and some new features.
With our concept Vario we won the design competition between our design course.
"it's a vario"
Vario gets it's name from the italian word "variazione" which means variation. This comes from the feature to change the look of Vario by changing it's frame.
Vario comes with five different colours. Simply click in your favourite colour and let Vario be a part of your kitchen.
Vario is as colourful as coffee can be.

Common coffeemachines affix the watertank on the back. This has two disadvantages, it's impossible to see how much water is left and the handling is laborious.
A visible watertank in the front visualizes the character of freshness of water and reminds you to refill the water tank.
The capacity of the tank lasts for about eight cups of coffee. This suits small offices and private households the best.
We disasemmbled several coffee machines to understand how they work and to get an overview about the neccesary parts.
Field-research in several electronics stores.
We also had a class with the head of design from Phillips Senseo.
